Differences in Perspective

Written by Dave on July 2nd, 2008 | 0 Comments

I am a lifelong Cubs fan. I bleed Cubbie Blue (a great Cubs blog, by the way). Some of my greatest and most devastating memories involve the Cubs. But I live in Texas, which makes it a bit more difficult to be a Cubs fan. Luckily, I get WGN and can watch a healthy portion of the games.

A-Rod, You Suck!!!! I Can’t Let This Go By!

Written by paul on July 1st, 2008 | 2 Comments

A-Rod, you G** D***  fraud of a prima-donna get your goat smelling, overpaid, no concept of reality or history for that matter, panty waste, ass in the home run derby in the last All-Star Game in the World Famous Yankee Stadium and YOUR (for the time being, until a bigger paycheck comes along) home. When I saw this headline it fired up all the embers of hatred I have for this A-Hole A-Rod.

Why I love baseball

Written by Dave on June 30th, 2008 | 1 Comment

Baseball, in my opinion, is the greatest sport.  Sure, that is debatable (let’s go get a beer and talk) but I am prepared to at least make a case.  Here are my top ten reasons why baseball is the greatest sport:

Two of the teams that during spring training were picked to at least contend for their divisions have begun the process of dealing with the epic failures that they have become so far this season.

Umps to Make the Call on Replay, Doesn’t Make It Any Better

Written by Chris on June 14th, 2008 | 1 Comment

I’m a purist of sorts; I love baseball for it’s undeniable human element. At least 51% of that human element is made up of the fallibility of the umpires — they’re going to collectively make one mistake minimum in each game they officiate. Sure, the fact umpires aren’t perfect affects me when a call goes against the Sox or when the course of the game is obviously altered, but it doesn’t mean I love that part of the game any less than the athleticism, atmosphere, and culture. This is where my line in the sand is drawn when it comes to instant reply.

Dissecting the Manny and Youk Sideshow

Written by Chris on June 6th, 2008 | 0 Comments

Just a few outs after Covelli Crisp instigated the thirty-ninth chapter in The Red Sox and Rays: The Feud Not Too Many People Understand, Sox left-fielder Manny Ramirez and first baseman Kevin Youkilis either yelled at each other or nearly came to blows, depending on which version of the story you hear. Anyone that has any actual first-hand knowledge of the situation isn’t talking much about it, but here are some possible reasons for the angst between these two training buddies. As always, full disclosure: I’m a Red Sox fan, and the Rays’ new-this-season logo and unis are mortifying. So there.

Steve Bartman is already hated by the Cubs’ faithful. Moises Alou wants to stoke the fire and renew the hate. Poor, poor Steve Bartman.

The Best MLB Draft Ever

Written by paul on June 3rd, 2008 | 0 Comments

As a baseball fan it has always bothered me that the Negro leagues has been and add-on topic in the conversation of the best players ever. I am remiss in the fact that I don’t know a lot of their names, but I am not remiss in my admiration of the entire concept of a separate league that played with as much, if not more, passion, pride, and love of the game as those who dared to put themselves in the spotlight at a time when blacks were in the least, persecuted. As a white male, I do not have the a true understanding of what it must have been like.
